What we collect
We only collect information you explicitly give us:
- Email address — if you subscribe to Njalla Daily. Used solely to send the newsletter.
- Confirmation token — a random string sent to verify your email. Discarded after use.
We do not collect names, phone numbers, payment details, or any other personal information.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t use cookies for tracking
- We don’t use third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel)
- We don’t fingerprint your browser or device
- We don’t sell or share your data with anyone
- We don’t store raw IP addresses — view counts use one-way hashed IPs only
Newsletter
If you subscribe to Njalla Daily, your email is stored in our database hosted on our own server in the EU. We use it exclusively to send the newsletter and nothing else.
You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email. On unsubscribe, your email is flagged as opted-out and no further emails are sent. You can request full deletion by emailing privacy@njalla.io.
Article views
We count article views to power the Trending section. When you read an article, we record a SHA-256 hash of your IP address — not the IP itself. This hash cannot be reversed to identify you. It is used only to deduplicate view counts within a 24-hour window.
Third-party content
Njalla aggregates and rewrites content from public sources (news sites, GitHub, X). We link to original sources. We do not embed third-party trackers or widgets on the page.
We use Google Fonts for typography. Google may log font requests from your browser — see Google’s Privacy Policy.
Data storage & security
All data is stored on our own server located in the EU. We use HTTPS for all connections. Access to the database is restricted to internal services only — no public database access.
Your rights
Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Withdraw consent (unsubscribe) at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@njalla.io. We’ll respond within 72 hours.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll update the date at the top and notify newsletter subscribers.
